What is the 2020 Content Downloader? 

The 2020 Content Downloader is a new delivery method for your monthly 2020 Office Catalog Content disc set. The 2020 Content Downloader allows you to easily download the content to your computer, network drive, or external drive and install it using the existing installer without needing DVDs.


Is there a procedure for how to use the download?

Who receives the 2020 Content Downloader email? 

The person or persons at your company that normally receive 2020 Catalog Content DVD sets each month will also receive a notification email for the download when it is available. The recipient will also use their same email address to access the Downloader. A 2020 customer receiving a DVD is entitled to 1 download of the 2020 Content Downloader for each month, per each DVD for which they are paying. They will also receive a notification to each address that receives a DVD. 


Why can only one person download the file? 

The 2020 Content Downloader is intended to be a 1-to-1 replacement for the DVD set. 2020 is offering this download as a free, additional service to subscribers that normally receive the DVD. As a result, we are limiting the number of downloads each month until this new distribution method matures. 
 

Can I set it up so that one person at my company receives the DVD and a different person receives the Downloader email?

Yes. The notification email for the availability of the download can be sent to one person and the DVD can be shipped to another person. They may also be set so that both go to the same person. Please contact 2020 Support to request this type of setup.


Can two different people receive the Downloader email? 

You will receive 1 notification email for each copy of the DVD set you are purchasing. Our service is setup this way so that only the email recipient may access the download site. This is expected to change in the future, but for now you are limited to one email per DVD set.
 

How do I provide the downloaded files to multiple users or remote locations within my company?

Once the files are downloaded to your computer you can move them around your company as you see fit. You may copy the files to an external flash drive, external hard drive, a network drive or even your company's FTP or Cloud storage. You may then pass around the flash/hard drive to other users or point other users to the network or download location on your server. If you already have a 2020 Network install setup internally you may use this download to update that location as well.


Can I store old versions of the download? 

Yes. The downloads are large but if you have the storage space you can save each month's download to a hard drive and keep it forever.


Does 2020 have legacy versions of catalogs available?

Yes. Keep in mind the 2020 Content Downloader is a newer feature so 2020 only has a few months of downloads available. However, 2020 has copies of DVDs going back several years. If you are looking for legacy content, please contact 2020 Office Support.


May I still download manufacturer catalogs individually? 

Yes. Individual catalog downloads are still available on 2020.net (if you have a USB security device) or 2020 My Account (if you have a Software Key).


Will I continue to get the 2020 Catalog DVDs?

Yes. Unless you prefer not to and would rather use the download going forward. 2020 will be contacting customers for feedback.



Troubleshooting

Where can I find log files for the 2020 Content Downloader?

Log files are located in same directory as the "2020ContentDownloader<Month>.exe". The log filename is formatted as "2020ContentDownloader<Month><Year><Date/Time of Install>.txt".


2020 Office Content Downloader does not mount as a drive letter in Windows.

This may occur if you are running Windows 7 and a third party DVD mounting or burning software on your computer. Windows 7, by default, does not have a built in feature to mount "virtual DVDs". The 2020 Downloader is designed to work around this limitation. However, if there is a third party DVD-related software installer on your computer it may prevent the Downloader from performing this function. Navigate to the locate where you saved the downloaded files. Run the file in this location called "portablewinemu.exe". This should create the drive letter as expected. 


The 2020 Content Downloader is unable to see my network drive letters.

This issue was fixed with the March 2019 version of the downloader. This is a cosmetic issue. If you are using an older version of the Downloader simply type the drive letter and path when prompted during the download instead of browsing to it. The download should still work correctly.
 

I am running the Download on a Windows Server OS and when I try to start the download I receive an error "Last download file is corrupted, downloading again" but it never progresses.

The 2020 Content Downloader does not work directly on Windows Server OS. This issue will be fixed in a future iteration of the Downloader. 

Workaround 1: Run the downloader on a standard Windows client and copy the files after up to the server after the download complete.

Workaround 2: On the server open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools and Internet Options. Go to Advanced. Uncheck "do not save encrypted pages to disk" and click OK. Run the downloader again. 
 

I am unable to move or delete the downloaded files. How do I "eject" or "unmount" the virtual disc?

In order to be able to move or delete the download you will have to "unmount" the drive letter created by the installation. 

To "unmount" a drive:
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Right-click on the drive.
3. Click Eject.
